File sharing is bringing very harsh penalties to anyone suspected of illegally downloading copyrighted materials. The new digital economy bill will fine people who are caught illegally downloading music and movies. The fine is about 50 thousand pounds, which is about 80 thousand dollars. There is also a three strikes rule which is if the user is still downloading illegal files after receiving 2 warnings, they could have their household internet suspended.
