James Bond on hold


The new James Bond movie that was supposed to be released next year has been put on hold due to financial woes of the studio that distributes the movies. "Due to the continuing uncertainty surrounding the future of MGM and the failure to close a sale of the studio, we have suspended development on BOND 23 indefinitely," producers Michael Wilson and Barbara Broccoli said in a joint statement.

Fireball in the Midwestern sky


Authorities in several Midwestern states were flooded the night of Wednesday April 14th with reports of a gigantic fireball lighting up the sky, the National Weather Service said. The fireball was visible for about 15 minutes beginning about 10 p.m., said the National Weather Service in Sullivan, Wisconsin.

iPhone OS 4.0?


After the iPad was released, Apple spread the news of a new version of the iPhone coming out. There have been some hints as to what might be in the new software, including perhaps multitasking, which has been rumored to have an Expose-like interface. The iPhone has always had some problems in the opinion of my peers, so hopefully this one will be better

"Alice in Wonderland" proved this frame that it's not a one-weekend phenomenon. The Tim Burton film had audiences coming back for more. After holding extremely well throughout the week, the Disney film dropped a small 47 percent its second weekend in theaters for an additional $62 million. It's 10-day total now adds up to $208 million.

Bike Routes?


Recently there was a petition for Google to add bike routes to the Google Maps. There were over 500 signatures on this petition and now Google has added the bike routes. Bikers now can find cycling directions that are relatively speedy and aim to be safer and less challenging for riders. So, for all you hipsters out there, you have a new way to get places on you fixies safely!

In Chile today there was another earthquake during the inauguration of their president. The 7.2-magnitude aftershock was stronger than the quake that destroyed the Haitian capital on Jan. 12.

Forgetting Farrah Fawcett


At the Academy Awards on Sunday night, the executive director of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences forgot to put Farrah Fawcett in the memorial that was shown. The academy apologized for not mentioning her.

Shutter Island wins weekend box office


This weekend Shutter Island, which stars Leonardo DiCaprio, pulled in another $22.2 million, bringing it's overall total to $75.1 million. It has won the weekend box office 2 weekends in a row now. Hopefully it will keep doing really well, and I am looking forward to seeing it sometime in the near future.

Plants vs. Zombies has been bought over 300 thousand times which has made Apple over 1 million dollars.
The game hit number one in "units sold" and "top grossing" categories on Apple's App Store charts inside 24 hours of launching on February 15. It's crazy how such a pointless game can be so popular...

What causes a successful fashion designer to hang himself?


Fashion designer Alexander McQueen hanged himself in his wardrobe and left a suicide note. He was found dead at his London apartment Thursday. The cause of death was asphyxia and hanging. McQueen's mother had died just days before his tragic suicide. It's terrible that someone with that much talent took away his own life.

KINDLE VS. iPAD


The day after Apple’s big iPad debut, Amazon reported stellar fourth-quarter results that included a 42% increase in sales and net income up 71%. Two days after the iPad appeared, the company got in a pricing fight with Macmillan, one of five publishers that signed on to provide content for Apple’s tablet. Meanwhile Amazon is not lying idle with its technology. The company is in the process of buying touch-screen technology startup. I'm guessing that the iPad will win this "war"

TEXTING


In the first quarter of 2009, the average U.S. teen made and received an average of 191 phone calls and sent and received 2,899 text messages per month. By the third quarter, the number of texts had jumped to 3,146 messages per month, which equals more than 10 texts per every waking non-school hour. It is crazy how much teens rely on texting and not phone calls. My parents have even started texting a lot!

SAVE THE TIGERS


Tigers could become extinct in the wild in less than a generation, the World Wildlife Fund warned today, Wednesday February 10th, as it launched a campaign to save them. "There is a real threat of losing this magnificent animal forever in our lifetime," said Sybille Klenzendorf, director of the WWF-US species conservation program. Tigers are threatened by many factors, including poaching, habitat loss, poorly planned development and illegal trafficking. Hopefully people will start saving them!

Angelina Jolie has already donated $1 million to Doctors Without Borders for Haitian earthquake relief, and now the actress is planning a visit to Haiti as a goodwill ambassador with the UN's refugee agency.

"Dear John" beats "Avatar" box office


"Dear John" won the weekend in a big way, grossing an estimated $32.4 million and setting a record for the highest-grossing Superbowl Sunday frame in history. Avatar" fell to second place for the first time, dropping a still scant 25 percent to $23.6 million.

A campaign using text messages to raise money for the Red Cross has tallied more than $21
million for relief efforts in Haiti. The campaign raised more than 3 million in its first 24 hours of this campaign. Text the phrase “Haiti” to the number 90999 and donate $10 to the Red Cross.

Spider-Man 4 is dead


Sony has announced that the sequel will not be moving forward, however sony pictures is going to get a new director and cast summer of 2012. it will be a different story line that focus' on the main character, Peter Parker, as a teenager. No one knows who will be replacing Toby Maguire, or director Sam Ramey. Hopefully Spider-Man 4 will be better than the 3rd.

Microsoft hands-free gaming


Microsoft has come out with a new device having to do with hands-free gaming. it is not a motion sensor it is muscle sensing. it allows you play a game without touching a device and without a motion sensor. for example, if you decided to play guitar hero with it, it would be like playing air guitar. it detects electrical activity in your muscles to help you play your game.

AVATAR


over the weekend that Avatar was opened, it crossed the 1 billion dollar mark worldwide. Avatar is the 4th highest film to make the most money opening weekend behind Titanic, Lord of the Rings, and Pirates of the Caribbean. Avatar is expected to go ahead of Lord of the Rings and Pirates of the Caribbean and be right after Titanic.
